Coach

Liam Greening

Came through our Deakin University placement program and never really left. Genuine, warm, and the kind of person who introduces himself to everyone in the room.

Liam came to State of Fitness through Deakin University’s sports science placement program — and within a few weeks, it was clear he wasn’t leaving.

The story that gets told about Liam from his first week: he walked up to one of the gym’s longest-standing members and said, unprompted, “Hi, I’m Liam. What’s your name?” The whole gym erupted. It was so genuinely warm and unselfconscious that it said everything about who he is.

That quality — being present, curious, and genuinely interested in the people around him — is exactly what State of Fitness looks for in a coach. Technical skills can be taught. Caring about people can’t.

Liam is completing his final year of sports science at Deakin University and holds a sports science internship at the North Melbourne Football Club. He has a background in tennis coaching, a love of golf, and brings the kind of energy into the gym that makes early morning sessions feel easier than they should.

He’s young and will be the first to tell you he’s still learning. But the things that matter most — remembering names, noticing details, showing up fully — those he’s already got.
